In October, Estonian start-up Parcelsea expanded into the Latvian and Lithuanian markets in partnership with Lithuanian property management company Civinity. Together, they are developing a model for integrating physical convenience services into apartment buildings and commercial premises, allowing residents and tenants to use smart mailboxes to receive and deliver all groceries, parcels and other household services.
Last week, Parcelsea installed the first smart mailboxes in Civinity-managed buildings in Riga and Vilnius, enabling residents and tenants to subscribe to and use Civinity’s home services platform. Civinity is a residential and commercial property management company with more than 1,800 employees in Lithuania, Latvia and the UK.
“Online shopping has grown rapidly in recent years and having lockers in public places, such as shopping malls and office buildings, was a game changer. Thinking about what could be even more convenient for the client, we decided to go the extra step and bring the packages to people’s homes by installing lockers at residential buildings. In Estonia, Parcelsea piloted the service platform independently earlier this year. In February, the company launched a smart mailbox-assisted laundry service. It is now Parcelsea’s fastest growing business segment and in October the company launched new and flexible laundry packages.

By consolidating packages and the volume of supplies that go in for maintenance, we can reduce greenhouse gases by 3-10 times in the last mile compared to the usual situation of driving to the mall to pick up packages or deliver things. Feedback from customer surveys reassures us that the timing is ripe to digitise services.”
